Vmware To Install Linux Under Windows?

i have windows xp now i want to install linux as virtual os using vmware what is the procedure

    Create a VM machine, pick the proper Linux kernel version, create a large enough disk, and map the CD drive to the linux “.iso” file you downloaded. Do a normal install, and then re-map the CD drive back to a physical drive.
